It gets really hot and a lot of people have reported burns on their laps, I doubt you could cook anything, but no doubt you could warm some small snack.

if it looks fake, try making eggs for breakfast on my leg.
my leg is burning like hell right now that it hurts to touch it, from a sunburn you only feel the skin burning but from this I can feel the burning sensation to my bone
they doooo get hot, if I keep my finger on for more than half a minute in certain areas of my laptop it burns.
